A man was shot and killed outside his duplex. The murder happened in the 2400  block of Heiman Street in North Nashville. There may be other witnesses who have  not come forward. It was Sunday, May 31 at 9 p.m. A neighbor heard a  gunshot and went outside to investigate. He found 23-year-old Carl Reed lying on the ground behind his duplex. We determined Mr. Reed received a phone call. There were two males that were supposed to
come to his residence," said Larry Brown, Metro Police Department.
Police said the men arrived at the duplex and shortly afterward Reed was shot.
Police have not identified the man.
"One male was seen running from the
residence in an alley next to the residence," said Brown. Paramedics
rushed Reed to the hospital where he died during surgery. Family members told
police Reed had been in prison a couple of times. They did not know if
he was in any trouble at the time he was killed. Police said what was important
was to capture the killers off the street.  "Anytime you have random gunfire in a space like that there's a possibility of others getting injured, bystanders being injured and we'd really like to get those folks off the
street," said Brown.
