September 23 2009 - In East Nashville, there was a fatal shooting between friends. Police said 25-year-old Harold Eugene Newsome  was shot dead by convicted felon Daniel Garrett. The shooting happened  in the courtyard of The James Cayce public housing development on Tuesday  afternoon.  
"They got into an argument, and one of the subjects produced  a firearm and shot his buddy multiple times," said Metro police captain Harmon  Hunsicker. According to police, Newsome died on the scene

 Police have identified a body found this morning in the Metro Center area of north Nashville. Authorities say the body of 33-year-old  Viginia Faye Ivory was found in a vacant lot next to an abandoned house on 23rd  Avenue. 
Ivory's sister, Bobbie, said the family had reported her  missing on Sunday, and according to police, a neighbor discovered the body around 9 a.m. Thursday...Metro Police Spokesperson Kristin Mumford said, "Over the past few days, a neighbor had noticed an odor. He went to investigate this morning and discovered a woman's body." Bobbie said she last saw her sister on Thursday.She told News 2 that Virginia was 7 months pregnant with her thirdchild.
