 Police have identified the man who was killed in a shooting Thursday  night near a school in East Nashville. Police said 29-year-old Horace Fentress, Jr. was fatally shot while walking near the intersection of Walton Lane and Maplewood Trace around 10:30 p.m. That is near Maplewood High School
and a bus yard in East Nashville. Police said Fentress and a 26-year-old friend were walking along Arrowhead Drive, when they were approached by two men in a tan or gold Chevrolet Impala. The friend told police that they were robbed. Fentress was allegedly shot and the other victim was pistol whipped. Police said the suspects then got back into the  which was driven by a third person, and fled on Walton Lane.   
"The
victim stated that at that time he fled the scene, and he flagged down three to
four individuals riding in a vehicle and advised them of exactly what took
place," said Captain Sebastian Gourdin with Metro Police
Department.
